National Volunteers Week (Wear Orange Wednesday)
8th – 14th May 2107 is National Volunteers week where we have an opportunity to acknowledge, recognise and thank all of our great volunteers working in our communities for the betterment of all.
These volunteers may be someone you know, someone who helps you or someone who is just there ready to support in times of need.
Our great communities are full of fantastic volunteers from those in our emergency services, those assisting at our schools with reading etc, meals on wheels, sporting bodies, local newsletter the list is endless and the contribution to the community invaluable and vital for a community to function and provide the services that many of us may take for granted.
During this week PLEASE take a few minutes to THANK a volunteer in our community and maybe even consider being one yourself; the commitment doesn’t need to be huge as more hands make light work. Volunteers don’t volunteer for themselves but for the betterment of their community, a chance to give something back to the town or organisation in which they are a part of.
This Wednesday the 10th is Wear Orange Wednesday a day set aside to acknowledge the efforts and contribution made to the community by our local SES volunteers. As part of this day you are asked to Wear Orange to show your support. As part of the WOW day celebrations the East Coast Heritage Museum will again be bathed in a glow of Orange.
Your Local SES is made up of a small group of dedicated volunteers on call 24/7 to respond to emergencies in our municipal area to assist you and others in their time of need.
To all of our fantastic Volunteers we say THANKYOU for all you do in our communities to make them a better place for all. To all those that support our volunteers Thankyou.
